Maintenance and protection of marble are principally done to safeguard and preserve the marble in the long term, and also for ease of cleaning.  There are two options for cleaning marble, depending on the type of surface finishing your marble has:  Washing with a damp cloth using water and/or neutral detergents with pH 6.8-7.2, and washing with a dilute wax solution.
